Compensation can only be done through authorised Tshiamiso Trust officials. You do not need to pay to claim! Only you can claim your compensation! Be careful of fraudsters.
If you are a family member of a miner who has died: you have the right to an autopsy to check for these compensable occupational diseases in South Africa.
About TB & Silicosis
TB and Silicosis are different diseases:
TB is contagious: it is lung disease caused by a bacterial infection that can spread to other parts of the body. TB can be cured by completing courses of medication.
Silicosis is not contagious: it a lung disease caused by the build-up of silica dust from mines in the lungs. Silicosis cannot be cured, but symptoms and complications can be eased with treatment.If you have TB, you are likely to suffer from silicosis as well.
